However, in recognition of her high intelligency, her mother insisted on her receiving a good education, so it wasn't until Qu'ra's age of ascension that she was able to join the Klingon Forces. In the forces she quickly made a name for herself in the battle against a Romulan raid on the Klingon colony Toborkh. Leading an assault group into the heart of the enemy forces, she was crucial in destroying the central command of the invaders. Wounded seriously in the attack, she was later decorated with the Klingon Medal of High Honour and is now the youngest Klingon ever to receive this decoration. Advancing quickly through the ranks, Qu'ra got to play a leading role in the joint Federation/Klingon task force set up to root out a drug smuggling ring. It was during this raid that she made the acquaintance of now LCDR Melina DelBraye, whose ship USS ARIEL was sent with orders to intercept the Romulan raiders. Core point of the conflict between the two was that Qu'ra considered the raid a purely Klingon problem, something in which the Federation had no role to play in. However, despite her successes, Qu'ra grew increasingly incomfortable with the single-mindedness of her fellow Klingon warriors. Herself being of a more pragmatic mind, she became more and more annoyed with the emphasis on honour and rituals of her fellows. The contact with the Federation Marines during the joint operation convinced her to quit the KDF and apply to the SFMC. The corps, in recognition of her talents and abilities proven in the field, accepted her application and allowed her to joined with the rank of a CPL. After spending one year of ship duty, Qu'ra was posted on SB BETA where again she stuck out of the crowd during numerous missions against the pirates in that sector. Consequently, she was promoted in short order and became one of the youngest Marines to earn the rank of a MSGT. She is officer material, but for the time being she prefers to remain at her current rank, because she "gets more fighting to do". During her assignment on the USS KUSANAGI she developed a crush on her superior, then-2LT Rhys Sigbjoernsen. Though neither of them would admit it, it was the reason why she followed him when he was assigned to Point Gideon Station. With her abilities, she was warmly welcomed by Command, and her taking over the training of the Marine personnel (among other things) was credited with a doubling of the personnel's effectiveness. At the same time she made a point of pulling patrol and guard duty like the proverbial grunts, and quickly achieved notoriety among the low-life in the sector. Rhys's departure from Point Gideon Station in 2418 was both a blessing and a curse: as she had to stay behind, to 'train' the new MCO, it was the first time years that she was separated from him. Yet at the same time his reassignment allowed them to finally acknowledge their feelings for each other. OFFICIAL STAR FLEET RECORD 2406: Accepted into service 2413: Assigned to the USS KUSANAGI. 2414: Assigned to the Point Gideon Station 2415: Promoted to SGTM, assigned as Bataillon Sergeant at PGS. SKILLS PROFILE Qu'ra is an exceptional infantry marine: above the almost traditional courage and aggressiveness of a Klingon warrior, her intelligence gives her an intuitive command of tactical situations. Aggressive, but not careless in pursuing her goals. Competent singer. RECENT FITNESS REPORT Overall: 100% "Qu'ra is in excellent shape and fit for all forms of duty." (MSGT Thomas Konrad, Physical Instructor, 2412) RECENT PSYCHOLOGICAL REPORT "Being a Klinogn, Qu'ra Monakh is perfectly suited for the duty as a fighting Marine. Her dealings with fellow Marines, especially with lesser experienced superiors, is negatively affected by her klingon temperament. While on duty she mostly keeps strict control, it somewhat distances her in social situations." (CNS Dr. T'Mak, 2412) RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES Reading Singing (Klingon popular music, not this Opera crap) Competitive shooting ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Apart from her more pragmatic outlook on battle prowess, honour and rituals, Qu'ra is in all other respects a true Klingon. vim:textwidth=70
