Following more after his father, he was very outgoing from his late childhood years on, spending a lot of his spare time exploring the wilderness areas around his hometown. It was on these trips that he developed the wish to see the universe and hike new worlds. During his later teenage years Rhys added flying to his interests and took classes in hang gliding. His decision to sign up with the SFMC was based on the wish to make his interests also his profession, while at the same time providing a useful service in return. At first he had trouble adjusting to the formal discipline and human traditions of Star Fleet (best demonstrated by the Glider Incident 2408), but over time has come to grasp most of the concepts. Already interested in the Universe in general, Rhys became an eager student of Astrophysics. Even so, and partly because of his need to stay in shape, he spent a good deal of his sparetime either exercising or, during the summer breaks, on strenuous hiking trips. On the latter he was often accompanied by fellow students with similar interests. Rhys was well-accepted by his peers. Noteworthy however is the bond he developed in his third year at the Academy with the Martian Michelle D'Hra. The two first met as adversaries on the brink of a bar fight between Marine and Starfleet cadets. Not interested in a fight, Rhys suggested joint holo combat simulation, to which Michelle added the twist of exchanged roles (Starfleet cadets performing the tasks of Marines, and vice versa). Over the work on the simulation and its results (as far as mission objectives were concerned, it was an utter failure), the two became close friends. On his first Fleet assignment aboard the USS KUSANAGI, Rhys brought to bear his somewhat unusual approach to commandering, managing to form ties to at least some of the KUSANAGIs main personnel (in particular the then-COU Sarah Arden). Yet, HQ decided that his skills are better used aboard the Point Gideon Station and transferred him there; first as MXO, then later as MCO. Truth to be told, aboard the chronically short-staffed station he found himself in his element, finding unorthodox solutions in managing the inner and outer security in cooperation with the Navy personnell. For example, Navy patrol flights aren't just accompanied by Marine personnel, those Marines also receive training in flight-supporting tasks; and in return Navy pilots participated in basic Marine training. During this time, his relationship with SGTM Qu'ra, Daughter of Monakh, who had followed him from the KUSANAGI, grew from a mere friendship into a deep romantical relation - a relation which nature was not openly acknowledged by either of the two. Three years and a belated promotion later, an even more tempting challenge beckoned in form of the position of the MXO for TACRON-13 aboard the USS CIRCE. However, not all ties with PGS were severed: on the eve of his departure, and no longer in a Officer-Subordinate relation, Rhys and Qu'ra finally took their personal relationship to the next level. OFFICIAL STAR FLEET RECORD 2413: Graduation from ALB; Instructor MAJ Charles Ferguson Assigned MCO, USS KUSANAGI. 2414: Promoted to 1st LT, USS KUSANAGI. 2415: Assigned MXO, Point Gideon Station 2416: Assigned MCO, Point Gideon Station 2418: Promoted to LTMAJ, assigned MXO USS CIRCE/TACRON 13. SKILLS PROFILE Rhys' fast reflexes and high-G resistance made him a prime candidate for pilot training. Infantry Combat Ground Support Pilot - Basic Combat Operations - Combat Search and Rescue - Insertions and Extractions Unarmed Combat Heavy Weapons Wilderness Survival Kinetic Energy Weapons Basic Shuttle Maintenance Tactical Frontline Leadership Disciplined and goal-oriented approach to his duties, but somewhat irreverent to matters of formal discipline. Calm even under high stress; but lacks the aggressivity and ego of a true fighter pilot. Competent at drawing. RECENT FITNESS REPORT: Overall: 90% (standard environmental condition) "Rhys' stamina has adapted well to standard environmental conditions, and he is now able to deliver high physical performance over long periods of time. His reflexes and peak performance are by nature far beyond requirements, and constant exercise allowed him to keep them at their high level." (MSGT James Thoburn, Physical Instructor, 2411) RECENT PSYCHOLOGIAL REPORT "Rhys Sigbjoernsen performs remarkably calm and disciplined under heavy stress, but he might need to find additional outlets for the tension built up in such situations. Privately, Rhys Sigbjoernsen enjoys the company of other people, even though he is not very talkative in social situations. Overall, Rhys is mentally well prepared for the challenges of his line of duty." (Dr. Maria Sodersen, CNS, 2411) RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES Hang gliding Drawing Hiking Holomovies ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Rhys likes neither tea nor coffee. The faith of Melya is rather pragmatic in that it teaches that Melya created the Universe, and is now watching how it develops. Corella: Corella is one of the hotter F class stars; approx. 125ly from Earth. Corella IV is the fourth planet orbiting Corella: Gravity: 3.2g Athmosphere: 84% Nitrogen, 15% Oxygen, 0.3% Flourine, rest is vapor and various gases 2.4 bar pressure at sea level (Earth: ca. 1 bar) Average Temperature: 5..10 Kelvin higher than Earth Three continents, covering 60% of the planet surface. 1.1 Billion sentient inhabitants Solar spectrum on the planet surface contains more UV radiation than that on Earth. Corellan Physiology: The body stature is humanoid, but shorter, more muscular, and with unproportionally long arms. Corellans are capable of pedestration on all four extremeties as well as just on their legs. The body almost completely covered with a short (5mm)-haired fur, which serves as primary protection against the sun's radiation. Only the the fur on the head has longer hair (20mm). The skin under the fur is thick and leathery. The range of vision is at slightly higher frequencies than that of humans: Corellans can see the near UV range, but not the deep reds. Flourine is an essential nutritional element and can be absorbed from air as well as from food. The Corellan body can store it in large amounts, and uses it to achieve peak muscular performance for both strength and speed. Under Earth conditions, the low athmospheric pressure (or more precisely, the reduced amount of oxygen) seriously impedes a Corellan's stamina, and a Corellan would be able to exert his full strength for only a very short time. The sustained strength of an adapted Corellan is only slightly above that of a well-trained human. vim:textwidth=70
