Background: Growing up in the harsh but beautiful colony of Vatnajoskull II, Viggen learned at an early age to be self-sufficient for his primary means of survival. Over the time however he managed to see beyond the mere difficulties of live on Vatnajoskull, and he developed an appreciation for the beautiful and interesting things happening all around him. But just appreciating things wasn't enough for him, so in the final years of his higher education he was a driving force behind organising excursions. Choosing journalism as profession was the next logical step to him, and he went to the best school to get his accredition as holo reporter: the Mt. Erebus school on Mars. But he also knew that he wanted to do coverages from The Frontier, and that those would require skills the Mt. Erebus school didn't teach. For this reason he joined one of the survival courses taught by the Black Sun - a non-profit organisation founded for the explicit purpose of teaching extra-terrestrial survival skills. With both schools under his belt (and a report about the Black Sun training camp on isolinear chip), Viggen applied to the Interstellar Geographic Society for a position as field reporter, and got accepted. His first assignments were rather tame - coverage of excavations in the Beta sector, reports about new technological developments in Starfleet, that kind of thing. After two years however, Viggen was assigned for a reportage on the Klingon homeworld, during which he suddenly found himself in the middle of a Romulan undercover operation against the Klingon council. For his involvement in the uncovering of the operation, and the documentary he created about it, Viggen later received the Marvin Award - one of the galaxy's more prestigious awards. Taking a break from the stressful life of a frontline reporter, Viggen then visited a number of Federation worlds, producing in-depth documentaries about them and their leaders. For his portrayal of the Grand Nagus of Ferenginar he managed to receive his second Marvin Award. Since then, the buzz has moved on to other holo reporters - a development Viggen doesn't mind. While he appreciates the Awards, his goal is to create good documentaries, and he happily leaves the Award-winning to others. For his latest assignment, Viggen chose to cover the maiden voyage of the USS LEDA, because, in his words: "We all know everything about the military side of Starfleet - Wolf 359, Defiant-class starships, phaser cannons and such. It's about time somebody put the scientific side of Starfleet into the limelight." SKILLS PROFILE Viggen is a gifted holoreporter, and never without his camera. However he hates to be seen as a 'passenger', so he tries to pull his own weight wherever he is. If not anything else, this usually makes people more willing to talk to him. His experience as a roaming reporter, in addition to his basic survival training, has given him a wide range of skills. He's not much more than a beginner in most of them, but so far that's all he needed. Among his better skills are First Aid, Marksmanship, Vehicle Piloting (anything up to a runabout), and Cooking. RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES Powerball matches. Card games. Amateur musician. vim:textwidth=70
